Visa Requirements

• Visa-free travel: Citizens of many countries (EU, US, Canada, Japan, etc.) can enter Uzbekistan visa-free for 30 days.

• Registration: Visitors must register their address within 3 days of arrival, usually handled by hotels or hosts.

 

Money & Currency

• Currency: Uzbekistani Som (UZS).

• Exchange: Use banks or official exchange offices.

• ATMs: Widely available in major cities (Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva). Visa and Mastercard are usually accepted.

• Cash is king: Smaller towns and markets often do not accept cards.

• Tipping: Optional but appreciated — 5–10% in restaurants; small tips for guides, drivers, or hotel staff are welcomed.

• Uzbekistan is considered very safe for travelers.

• Violent crime is rare, and most visits are trouble-free.
