Itinerary

Day 1 – Tashkent

Arrival in Tashkent marks the beginning of the journey through Uzbekistan’s vibrant capital—a city where modern avenues meet centuries of cultural heritage. Travellers are met at the airport and transferred to their hotel. Early arrivals can take time to explore nearby streets, browse local markets, or admire the ornate stations of the Tashkent Metro.

In the afternoon, the program continues with a visit to Khast-i-Imam Square, home to monuments dating from the 16th to 19th centuries, including the Barak Khan Madrasa, the al-Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum, and the Moyie Mubarek Madrasa, which preserves one of the world’s oldest Qurans, dating to the 7th century.

The exploration continues through the bustling Chorsu Bazaar and concludes with the Museum of Applied Arts. In the evening, the group gathers with the tour leader for a briefing and a welcome at a local restaurant.

Day 3 – Samarkand

The day begins with an in-depth exploration of Samarkand’s iconic monuments. Registan Square (1415–1660), framed by the Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor, and Tilla Kori Madrasas, stands at the heart of the city’s architectural legacy. The program continues to the Bibi Khanym Mosque (1404), once one of Central Asia’s largest religious structures, before proceeding to the Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis (14th–15th century), renowned for its richly decorated mausoleums.

Day 4 – Samarkand

Morning visits include the Ulugh Beg Observatory (1420s), one of the most advanced astronomical complexes of the medieval world. The program continues with a walk through the Eternal City, a cultural and historical park celebrating traditional crafts and daily life. Optional experiences include a visit to a traditional silk paper workshop or a wine tasting at the historic Khovrenko Winery. The afternoon offers free time for market visits or independent exploration.

Day 5 – Samarkand → Bukhara

A relaxed morning provides time to explore Samarkand at a personal pace. Options include a visit to the local bazaar, the Al Bukhari Mausoleum, or the Afrosiab Museum, home to a rare 7th-century fresco. In the afternoon, the train departs for Bukhara, a city rich with atmospheric Silk Road heritage. In the evening, an optional traditional show at the Nodir Devon Begi Madrasa is available.

Day 6 – Bukhara

A full day is dedicated to exploring the old city of Bukhara. Highlights include the Poi Kalyan Complex, with its elegant mosque, Miri Arab Madrasa, and the 11th-century minaret. The tour continues through the historic Trading Domes, the Ulugh Beg and Abdoulaziz Khan Madrasas, the Gau Koushan Madrasa and minaret, and the ancient Magoki Attari Mosque, now serving as a carpet museum.

Further exploration includes the peaceful Liabi Khaouz Ensemble and the ornate summer residence of the Emirs of Bukhara, Sitorai Mokhi Khossa. A traditional family lunch is available as an optional supplement.

Day 7 – Bukhara → Khiva

The morning includes further visits in Bukhara, such as the Naqshbandi Complex and, if needed, Sitorai Mokhi Khossa. In the afternoon, the journey continues across the Kyzyl-Kum Desert, passing red sand landscapes, desert steppe, and nomadic grazing areas. Arrival in Khiva takes place in the evening.

Day 8 – Khiva

The day is devoted to discovering Itchan-Kala, the walled inner city of Khiva and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include the Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasa and the unfinished Kalta Minaret, the Kukhna Ark Fortress with its Juma Mosque and Throne Hall, the Mohammed Rakhim Madrasa, and the richly adorned Tash Khauli Palace with its harem.

Visits also include the Allakuli Khan Caravanserai, the historic Friday Mosque with its impressive carved pillars, the Islam Khodja Minaret and Madrasa, and the beautifully restored Pakhlavon Makhmoud Mausoleum.

Day 9 – Khiva

Today’s excursion leads into the desert to explore Ayaz Kala, a fortress dating to the 4th century BC and an important site from the Zoroastrian era. A traditional yurt lunch provides insight into nomadic life.

The journey continues to the fortresses of Toprak Kala and Kizil Kala, unique archaeological sites associated with the ancient Khorezm civilization.
