Itinerary
Day 1 – The Louvre in the desert
The day begins with a visit to the Savitsky Karakalpak State Museum of Art, home to an extraordinary collection of Russian avant-garde works from the 1920s and 1930s. Each exhibit acts as a window into the era of creative revolutions, earning the museum the nickname “the Louvre in the desert.” Drive 40 mins from Nukus to Mizdakhan Complex: Conclude the journey with a visit to this sacred historical site, spanning the 4th–2nd centuries BC and 13th–16th centuries AD.
Highlights include mausoleums such as Mazlumkhan Sulu, Khalifa Yerezhep, Shamun Nabi, and the Zoroastrian settlement of Giaur-Kala. Return to Nukus and visit a local bazaar at a local restaurant.
